Good news for all owners of Mercedes-Benz classics from the 1950s and early 1960s: as of now, the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center is offering new brake boosters - type ATE T50 and T50-12 - for historical Mercedes-Benz models such as the 190 SL (W121), the 300 SL (W198), the 300 Sc (W188) and the Ponton models. The T50 brake booster is one of the most complex safety assemblies of historical Mercedes-Benz cars and a crucial safety component which wears out gradually and almost imperceptibly.
Few drivers realize that their brake boosters are no longer functioning properly because they get used to the continuously rising pedal pressure required and the longer stopping distances. On the basis of experience gained, the Classic Center proceeds from the assumption that some 80 percent of all brake boosters currently operating in classic cars from the 1950s and 1960s are worn.
Due to the large number of precisely matched parts, the reconditioning or replacement of individual parts does not guarantee long-term operational reliability and thereby safety. This is why the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center had the entire brake booster reproduced, ensuring the highest levels of quality and safety with this genuine replacement parts.
The Mercedes-Benz Classic Center offers the T50 brake booster in two versions for the model series set out below:
No. A000 430 21 30 Brake booster T50 for series
W105, W120, W121, W180*, W188, W198*, O319*
No. A000 430 19 30 Brake booster T50-12 for series
W180*, W128, W198*, O319*
*depending on the vehicle identification no.
Being a genuine Mercedes-Benz replacement part, each brake booster comes with a two-year warranty and is available at the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center or every Mercedes-Benz partner. Each brake booster is numbered and supplied with its own certificate confirming the pressure and function tests performed and passed by the unit.
