Basis of work standards is formed, among other things, by the vehicle documents in the Corporate Archives, to which the staff of the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center have exclusive access. In the extensive collections of what are probably the world’s largest automotive archives, the technicians find precise answers to all the technical and historical questions relating to a specific vehicle model.
Among other things, the archives boast an almost complete collection of the order books, production records and data cards of all passenger cars ever built in Sindelfingen and Untertürkheim. This is where original drawings and production records can be consulted – important documents for the clarification of details and for repair work.
In combination with a precise vehicle analysis, a deailed description of its condition and a cost estimate, this information forms a basis for extensive customer advice. Afterwards individual steps and methods are discussed before the restoration work on a customer’s car is begun.
Extensive documentation including photos and evidence of the repair work forms part of the restoration and completes the vehicle’s record.
