Quality workmanship coupled with the precision of industrial manufacturing methods – this combination has a tradition at Mercedes-Benz and is an expression of perfection. These are the principles for the overhauling, restoration and repair of major assemblies and components of historical Mercedes-Benz automobiles at the workshop of the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center.
As in the case of complete restorations, a detailed inspection and analysis precedes the carefully planned repair of individual components. The disassembly, cleaning, inspection, measuring and appraisal of all important parts form the basis for competent customer advice and individual cost estimates.
Major assemblies and parts which are no longer available from the standard parts range are thoroughly overhauled and individually repaired. In the process, the specialists at the Classic Center overhaul all the major parts employing the latest methods. Should individual parts be beyond repair, they are replaced by genuine Mercedes-Benz parts. The final inspection is carried out on the entire unit. This is because all ancillary units and the engine management system are overhauled together with the engine, for instance. Only in this way is a performance check on the test rig made possible.
Backed by the expertise of the globally operating Daimler Group and in-depth research in the Corporate Archives, repair and servicing work on complex, individually manufactured major assemblies, high-performance and racing engines from the years before 1945 is also made possible. In addtion, the repair, servicing and overhauling of pre-war major assemblies has the only applicable standard and that is the Mercedes-Benz quality.
