All over the world, 76,000 members are organised in over 80 clubs to share their passion for the historic vehicles of Mercedes-Benz with like-minded people. The clubs hold alive the history of the brand Mercedes-Benz and therefore are encouraged in their efforts by the Mercedes-Benz Club Management.
A distinct sense of community is characteristic for those clubs; their members have contributed themselves to the cultivation of a harmonic appearance all over the world as well as to tradition-consciousness and loyalty towards the brand.
Of course, every member is applying themselves to their club and the brand Mercedes-Benz in an exemplary manner; nevertheless there are always people who especially stand out because of their commitment. Those people can be nominated for the sought-after Silver Star Award by another club member.
The reasons for a nomination can be strategic, operational or emotional: so the overcome of extraordinary obstacles within the foundation of a club for example is weighing as much as special sportsmanship in the mutual dealing. The award should be seen as a sign of support, esteem and reward from the company towards the clubs and their members. It shall motivate, reward the faith and establish bonds.
Every member of an authorised Mercedes-Benz club is able to nominate another club member for the award once a year. A committee of the Mercedes-Benz Museum is then judging the final acceptance of the nominations. The decision is announced on the occasion of the presidential meeting of the international Mercedes-Benz Clubs. The award winner is given a certificate, a sculpture and the sought-after Silver Star, who can be worn on the jacket of an suite or costume.
