Mercedes-Benz AG was the first motor manufacturer to open its own center for historical vehicles, today’s Mercedes-Benz Classic Center, in Fellbach just outside Stuttgart on May 18, 1993. With this center, the company acknowledges the great tradition of the brand and the high esteem in which its classics with the three-pointed star are held.
“Originality at its best” – this is the slogan the Mercedes Benz Classic Center uses as of now to draw attention to the service department of the world’s oldest automotive brand and its extensive scope of services. With these services, Stefan Röhrig, former head of the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center, is creating new stimuli in the market for classic Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The emphasis is, first and foremost, on improving the availability of replacement parts for classic Mercedes-Benz cars. Other fields of activity are being developed step by step, for instance the purchasing and sales of automotive classics. The range of accessories, literature, watches and model cars offered in the especially set-up shop will also be expanded continuously.
A particularly important department of the Classic Center is the workshop in the rear part of the building. This is where specialists, who were already responsible for the maintenance of the museum exhibits before the foundation of the center, now also repair and restore the Mercedes-Benz classics owned by customers from all over the world.
